Turnkey HD

“It’s all MSE all the time,” Joel Newman, one of the founding partners of the new San Francisco-based mobile studio equipment rental house TURNKEY HD, told Ed Phillips and Bob Kulesh at the 2009 HD Expo.

Newman, who has produced everything from music videos to commercials, short films, documentaries and sketch comedies, has always used MSE’s grip for his jobs. “They are simply top notch, industry standard,” Newman says. “I won’t do a job without MSE support.”

Newman is so adamant that, when he and his partners David Barnblatt and Adam Meltzer were putting the first prototype THD truck together, he changed suppliers when one trie to sell them cheaper knock-off items. “People expect to see MSE on the trucks,” he says. “And that’s what we’re going to give them!

Now that we’ve connected with MSE, I can dael with Linda Swope directly. We’re building our 3rd THD Sprinter right now – and we’re stocking it with a two-ton grip package – everything from Grip Clips to 12x frames, all sizes of rags, C-Stands, Baby Combos and more.”

Newman will proudly show anyone who is interested the company’s cool new truck. It’s a streamlined Dodge Sprinter 3500 with a Mega High Roof and 170″ wheelbase, providing ample headroom and roomy cargo/work area. The company had specially designed shelving to hold every kind of grip equipment needed for a shoot. THD’s goal? 50 working models. All with MSE equipment.

Their next big MSE purchase? “I’d love to get the Doorway Dolly on every truck,” Newman says with determination.
