Matthews’ Inside Sales Support, Monica Perez knows how to give excellent customer service, in person and over the phone. That’s because she honed her skills working as the first point of contact for clients and vendors. Monica’s journey with MSE began in Reception almost ten years ago - she was switching careers, transitioning from her former job as a Loan Processor for Countrywide.
“Countrywide was purchased by Bank of America, and they let go of a lot of people,” Monica shared. “I needed a new job and wanted to change directions.” She reached out to a recruiter who put her in touch with MSE, and she – and the company – never looked back.
Although she started in reception, Monica proved to be so adept multi-tasking that purchasing duties were added to her work day. Monica’s position as a Buyer for the company allowed her to learn about the various processes raw material goes through in order to become a finished good. And, she uses this knowledge every day to help track her sales orders and ensure her client’s shipments go out the door complete and on-time.
When an opening came in the Sales Department, Sales Manager Linda Swope was eager to offer Monica the opportunity. “Monica’s attention to detail and product knowledge, as well as her efforts to move orders smoothly through our system, do not go unnoticed by the many customers she serves,” Linda says. “She’s a valued member of our department and we would not be the team we are without her.”
When asked about her favorite part of working here at Matthews, Monica’s response was immediate. “I like the people, the fast-paced energy, and the knowledge I’ve gained about how the equipment works on set,” she says. “But most of all, I consider everyone here family. We see each other every day and I have close relationships with many of my peers.”
Monica’s personal interests include spending time with her three beautiful children and extended family. As a native of Los Angeles county, Monica grew up in the San Fernando Valley not far from Matthews’ current building. When she’s not at work, Monica enjoys vintage fashion and cars from the 40s and 50s, particularly the pin-up hair styles that come with the period. Every year she attends an annual vintage car show in Las Vegas called Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, where you can find her listening to the music, swing dancing, and watching the hula hoop contest.
